MILLVILLE - The developer of an age-restricted housing complex along the Maurice River received permission from the city’s Zoning Board to remove the age restriction. The project was lauded by officials because of the expected quality of the new housing as well as the new residents they would attract - residents who would not be a drain on the city’s services, who would have time to volunteer and, most importantly, who would have money to spend. City Planning Director Kim Ayres said she recommended the Zoning Board approve the change because if the age-restricted tag had not been lifted, the project likely would not have continued. Ayres did stress that although the age-restricted designation was lifted and that families are able to reside there, the units are not conducive to raising families because of the number of bedrooms and the five-floor midrise construction plan. read more
